🟢 Phantom Neuro Secures Breakthrough & TAP FDA Designations

Published: March 6, 2025
Source: PR Newswire

Phantom Neuro, a Texas-based neurotech company, has received both the Breakthrough Device and Targeted Acceleration Pathway (TAP) designations from the FDA for its Phantom X platform. This minimally invasive neural interface enhances control of prosthetics and assistive devices by decoding natural human motion and providing near-human responsiveness.

🔹 Why it matters:
These designations streamline the regulatory pathway, accelerating Phantom X’s clinical and commercial rollout. Phantom Neuro reports 94% accuracy in decoding real-time hand and wrist gestures and is aiming for additional trials in 2025.

🔹 Big picture:
This recognition positions Phantom Neuro as a leader in intuitive prosthetic tech, enabling amputees and patients with mobility challenges to regain independence and improved quality of life.

💡 Clinical validation + regulatory fast-tracking = strong momentum for Phantom X.

🧬 Precision Neuroscience’s Wireless Brain Implant Gets FDA Clearance

Published: April 18, 2025
Source: The American Bazaar

Precision Neuroscience—a key Neuralink rival—just earned its first full FDA clearance for a core component of its brain-computer interface: the Layer 7 Cortical Interface. This ultra-thin device, about the size of yellow scotch tape, includes 1,024 electrodes and enables high-fidelity neural recording for up to 30 days in clinical settings.

🔹 Why it matters:
This is the first FDA-cleared wireless BCI aimed at helping patients with severe paralysis regain movement and speech functions. Precision plans to scale up trials with top research institutions like Mount Sinai and UPenn.

🔹 Backstory:
The company’s co-founder, Benjamin Rapoport, previously helped launch Neuralink. Now, backed by notable investors including Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates, Precision is racing to commercialize next-gen neural interfaces.

💡 Wireless BCIs are no longer theoretical—they’re in clinical deployment.
